On our Streaming Radar this week, we’re diving into two of my favorite genres — mystery and comedy. Separately, they work. Together, they hit even better. Like chips and salsa or sushi and wasabi, sometimes you want one, sometimes you want the other… and sometimes you want both. That’s exactly what this week’s streaming lineup delivers: a perspective-shifting drama, a return to chaotic comedy, and a series that blends the two.

Imperfect Women – Apple TV

First up is the new Apple TV limited series Imperfect Women, starring Kerry Washington, Elisabeth Moss, Kate Mara and Leslie Odom Jr.

The series centers on a group of lifelong friends whose seemingly perfect lives begin to unravel after a shocking crime is committed. What makes the show stand out is its structure — each of the three central women tells the same story from her own perspective, reshaping the narrative every time.

The early episodes lean into Eleanor’s point of view, with Kerry Washington anchoring the story in a way that makes it feel like her world. Then the series flips, reframes, and forces you to reconsider everything you thought you knew. Each character gets her own spotlight, with the others shifting into supporting roles depending on whose version of events we’re seeing. It’s a smart approach that keeps the audience guessing.

The show plays like Big Little Lies meets Scandal, blending prestige drama with sharp, character-driven tension. It’s also another reminder of what Apple TV does really well — a more curated approach to storytelling. While some platforms prioritize volume, Apple tends to focus on projects that feel deliberate and polished.

I had the chance to speak with the cast and creators, and one of the most compelling ideas behind the series is how we all see ourselves as the main character in our own story. That perspective — and how it shifts — drives everything here. Imperfect Women explores how well we really know the people closest to us.

The Comeback — HBO Max

When you talk about some of the funniest comediennes of all time, a few names instantly come to mind: Carol Burnett, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lucille Ball, Betty White. But there’s another name that deserves to be mentioned in that same breath more often: Lisa Kudrow.

Most people know her as Phoebe Buffay on Friends, but she may be doing even better work as Valerie Cherish in HBO’s mockumentary series The Comeback.

Now, mockumentaries are tricky. Especially in a post-Office and Parks and Recreation world, where the format has been done so well and so often. But The Comeback found its own lane — and it’s only gotten better with time.

The series originally debuted in 2005 with 13 episodes. It then returned nine years later with a second season, and now, more than a decade later, it’s back again, continuing a story that somehow feels even more relevant today.

The show follows Valerie Cherish, a former sitcom star desperately trying to revive her career while allowing cameras to capture every awkward, uncomfortable moment along the way.

And that’s where the magic is. The show is cringey, it’s painful, and it’s hilarious, often all at the same time.

Deadloch — Prime Video

And finally, Prime Video brings us a new season of Deadloch — a true sleeper if you haven’t checked it out yet. Set in a small Tasmanian town, this dark comedy crime series follows two detectives who are anything but a perfect match as they investigate a string of murders.

What makes Deadloch work is its balance. The writing is sharp, the tone is unpredictable, and the odd-couple dynamic between its leads is what really drives the show. Sometimes with streaming, there’s a long list of shows you mean to get to… just not right now. Deadloch feels like one of those. Something you’ve probably scrolled past more than once.

But this is one you shouldn’t keep skipping. Give it one episode, and if the humor clicks for you, you’re likely all in. The series stars Kate Box, Madeleine Sami, and Alicia Gardiner, and delivers a mix of mystery and comedy that fits right alongside Imperfect Women and The Comeback in this week’s lineup.

Deadloch is streaming now on Prime Video.
