Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo food vendors submitted dozens of dishes to be judged in the annual Gold Buckle Foodie Competition. From the delectable— like ice cream and cookie combos—to the questionable (scorpion pizza, anyone?), here’s a look at the dishes rodeo attendees will be eating this year.

This dessert called “The Ultimate” from Custom Confections landed the team first place in the Most Creative category. -
A square of mudslide pie topped with curls of chocolate and white chocolate was among the dessert entries in the 2016 Gold Buckle Foodie Competition. -
Holmes Smokehouse (booth 60 in NRG Park) submitted bacon-wrapped sausages for judging at the 2016 Gold Buckle Foodie Competition. -
The big winners of the day were Kimberly and Anthony Revis of Custom Confections. The couple won first place in three different food categories. -
One of the Gold Buckle Foodie Competition dessert entries was an Elvis-inspired banana, peanut butter and bacon-topped funnel cake. -
This giant strawberry and whipped cream-topped waffle unfortunately became soggy and didn’t pass muster with the judges—although it certainly is attractive. -
Go Nuts & More’s “Sweet & Sassy” candied pecans. They are at booth L254 at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. -
