Seven bucks may seem like a lot to pay for a sweet tart, but the coconut almond cream cheese tart at Tart Cafe (4411 Montrose, 713-526-8278) is well worth it. At least one inch thick and four inches in diameter, it looks more like a quiche than a tart. A heavy pastry forms the base, which is filled with a smooth almond paste and a moist coconut cream cheese. To indicate the flavor, the tart is decorated with a flower-petal design made of chocolate and an almond. It’s best to get one of these delicacies in the morning, when it’s fresh-baked.
