Seven

Web exclusive!

Brad Pitt might be a suave, socially responsible Mr. Angelina Jolie these days, but back in 1995 he was just another very pretty actor trying to make a buck. That year he starred in Seven, a thriller directed by David Fincher. In the film, Morgan Freeman is the wise but tired older cop who’s about to retire, and Pitt plays the younger hot-head who’s going to replace him. Gwyneth Paltrow has a small but important role as the young cop’s wife.

Freeman and Pitt are after a serial killer who’s using the seven deadly sins as a blueprint for murder. The deaths are gruesome, each one getting a little sicker than the last (watch out for the lust murder, that’s especially horrific), and, of course, there’s a surprise ending. 11:55 p.m. Friday and Saturday. River Oaks Theater, 2009 West Gray. For information, call 713-866-8881 or visit www.landmarktheatres.com. $9.50.

Fri., Jan. 23, 11:55 p.m.; Sat., Jan. 24, 11:55 p.m., 2009
