From boy band hottie to solo sensation to…minor league outfielder? Justin Timberlake stars in dramatic comedy The Open Road as young prospect Carlton Garrett, whose mother’s illness forces him to reconnect with his man-child of a father, former baseball legend Kyle Garrett (Jeff Bridges). The role has Timberlake wearing the uniform of the Class AA Corpus Christi Hooks, an Astros minor league affiliate. Talk about bringing sexy back. (Some of the film was actually shot in Corpus and Houston.) The Houston Film Commission is holding a special screening that includes a Q&A session with director Michael Meredith. 10:45 a.m. Angelika Film Center, 510 Texas. For information, visit www.houstonfilmcommission.com. $7.75.
