It’s hard to find a character that’s sexier and sassier than the wonderfully wild Sally Bowles from Cabaret. Even better, she’s surrounded by a group of women who prance about in their knickers at the Kit Kat Club as they gyrate to the gorgeous tunes written by John Kander and Fred Ebb. Of course, Cabaret isn’t just a show about a bunch of dance-hall dames and their vampy emcee. It’s also a haunting tale about a nation at the precipice of one of the darkest times of the modern era; it gives us a strange view into the seedy corners of Germany as the Nazis come to power in 1930.
