Expect a cool reception at Watercolor Arts Society-Houston’s “Watercolor Ends the Summer” today. Not standoffish, mind you, but mellow and soothing. “I would describe it as refreshing and bright, with something for everyone,” says WAS-H public relations director Karen Houston. “Watercolor Ends the Summer,” this month’s edition of the “Watermedia” series, will feature the summertime paintings of local artists who work in watercolor and acrylics. Lush, vibrant outdoor scenes, as shown in the paintings of 2004 Texas Artist of the Year Sam Caldwell, will hang side by side with astute realism, as exemplified by the work of WAS-H workshop teacher Keiko Yasuya. These artists aren’t just painting the lily.
