Jamie Richards closes out the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo as the final performer at The Hideout. His latest CD, Sideways, will be released April 6, so listeners can expect to hear lots of those tunes. Previous releases Between theses Lines, Drive and No Regrets, established him as part honky-tonk king, part storyteller following in the steps of George Strait. Most often he sings about love (ยIt takes a rocket scientist/ To figure what she sees in me/ Whoยd ever thought sheยd go for an ordinary Joeย and ยI was such a fool to push your love aside/ Now all Iยve become is a tear in your eyeย) spending too much time on a barstool (ยIยm not a loser/ Just a part-time boozerย) and country life (ยFor 60 years that old rooster lived on top of that old barn”). Wear your dancing shoes, and donยt get caught off-guard when Richards moves from a party piece to something a little more sentimental.
