How do you put a new spin on the old classic Romeo & Juliet? If you’re Phoenix INC Theatre, you’ll put on two alternating productions. Ilich Guardiola, the company’s artistic director, says, “One version is more traditional; it’s a straightforward rendition just a little bit modernized. The other is directed by Trish Rigdon, and it’s actually Romeo & Julian. It’s two boys playing the lead characters.” Both productions share the same script, set and lighting design, and there’s only one cast of actors, with the leads of one version playing minor roles in the other.
