The Houston Public Media Silent Film Concert Series continues with F.W. Murnau’s Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans (1927). Adapted from Hermann Sudermann’s short story ”A Trip to Tilsit,” Sunrise tells the story of a simple country man (George O’Brien) involved with a devious mistress (Margaret Livingston). At her urging, he plots to kill his faithful and loving wife (Janet Gaynor). Austin-based instrumental post-rock band MY EDUCATION perform a newly composed score for the film. The score promises to be cinematic and psychedelic, melding powerful, whirring guitars with a harmonious viola.
