Farewell Menu at Killen’s Heights 

Killen’s, 101 Heights Boulevard, is saying goodbye after five years in the Heights with a limited-time farewell menu, offered now through its final service on Sunday, July 19. Chef Ronnie Killen is bringing back original favorites including chicken-fried steak, 24-hour fried chicken, pork chops, oxtails and the Cafeteria Burger alongside barbecue by the pound and classic Southern sides.

Bastille Day Celebrations

Brennan’s of Houston, 3300 Smith, celebrates Bastille Day with a French happy hour (2 to 6 p.m.); French wine tasting ($38, 6 to 7 p.m.) featuring three Loire Valley wines paired with small plates; and three-course French dinner ($70, 5 to 8 p.m.), with an optional $30 wine pairing.

Downtown’s newest French-inspired café, bakery and garden bar, Petite Lucie, 301 Milam, will officially host its grand opening with a Bastille Day fete, featuring entertainment, special food and drink offerings and other festive activities throughout the day.

Etoile Cuisine et Bar, 1101 Uptown Park, offers a four-course prix-fixe menu ($78 or a la carte) featuring French-inspired dishes from Maine lobster and seared sea bass to veal medallions and almond and black cherry cake, with optional wine pairings available for an additional $40. 

Through Saturday, July 19, guests can enjoy a French-inspired toast at Le Jardinier, 5500 Main, as the Michelin-starred restaurant pours its limited-time Joie de Vivre cocktail, made with apricot-infused brandy, lemon juice and a delicate Brie foam for $21.

Pasta Making Class at Lyric Market

CocuSocial will host a Handmade Pasta Making class at Lyric Market, 411 Smith, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Guests will learn how to make fresh pasta dough before rolling, cutting and shaping it into pappardelle and linguini using a pasta machine. The hands-on class includes all ingredients and equipment, with guests working in shared groups. Participants must be 21 or older.

Fridays

25-Cent Martini Fridays at Fielding’s Restaurants 

Fielding’s Culinary Group is bringing back its popular 25-cent handcrafted Tito’s and Juniper Gin martinis every Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. through the summer. The promotion is available at all Fielding’s locations, including Fielding’s River Oaks, 3750 Westheimer, Fielding’s Local Kitchen + Bar, 26400 Kuykendahl, and Fielding’s Wood Grill, 1699 Research Forest. No ticket is required, but reservations are recommended.

9AM in Houston at QUAD HTX 

The nationally touring 9AM party experience lands at QUAD HTX, 4608 Almeda, with DJs, brunch, cocktails and social games in a daytime party that swaps late nights for early vibes. Early arrivals can score complimentary espresso martinis while supplies last. Tickets are $20.

Kids Eat Free at J-Bar-M Barbecue

The limited-time Kids Eat Free promotion at J-Bar-M Barbecue, 2201 Leeland, wraps up this Sunday during the World Cup final. Two Dine for $99 at Brennan’s

This July, Brennan’s, 3300 Smith, brings back its Two Dine for $99 summer menu, offering a three-course prix fixe for two available at brunch, lunch or dinner. The menu includes starters like snapping turtle soup or shrimp rémoulade, entrées such as petite filet Oscar, Gulf shrimp and grits or eggs Brennan, and desserts including Mississippi mud pie or bananas Foster, with select wines starting at $30 per bottle.

Kolache of the Month at Kolache Shoppe

Kolache Shoppe’s July menu runs Thursday through Saturday at the Greenway Shoppe and Friday through Sunday at the Heights, Memorial and Pearland locations, featuring a Lebanese sausage and Akkawi cheese kolache with za’atar, a Blueberries & Cream kolache, a Pearland-exclusive Piña Colada kolache and a Banana Bread Oat Milk Latte.

The Generous Pour at The Capital Grille 

The Capital Grille’s annual Generous Pour wine tasting returns through August 30. For $38 with the purchase of a dinner entree, guests can sample six Duckhorn Portfolio wines, including the limited-edition Duckhorn Napa Valley Heritage Cabernet Sauvignon and Goldeneye North Coast Brut Rosé. A six-course wine dinner pairing is also available for $125 per person.

My Hero Academia Collaboration at Trill Burgers 

Trill Burgers teams up with My Hero Academia for a limited-time menu celebrating the anime’s 10th anniversary, available through August 9. Guests can order The One For All Burger combo with a hamburger steak patty, demi-glazed beef gravy, American cheese, cabbage and onion and a side of fries; the Plus Ultra Fries topped with okonomi sauce, mayo, furikake and bonito flakes; a Detroit Smash Lemonade; and exclusive merch.

Hurricane Season Volunteer Opportunities at Houston Food Bank

As hurricane season begins, the Houston Food Bank is seeking volunteers to help assemble disaster relief boxes stocked with shelf-stable food, water and cleaning supplies for future emergency response efforts. Volunteer shifts are available at the Houston Food Bank, 535 Portwall, Monday through Sunday, with morning, afternoon and select evening opportunities. Individuals, families and groups are welcome, and volunteers can also bring donations of nonperishable food items, particularly pull-tab canned goods, during their shift. Registration is available online through the Houston Food Bank.
