Texas Director Terrence Malick Wins Big in Cannes for Tree of Life

Film director and Austin resident Terrence Malick won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival for The Tree of Life over the weekend,according to the Associated Press.

Tree of Life, a family drama starring Brad Pitt, was filmed in several locations in Texas, including Houston, Dallas, Austin and Waco.

Though it won the festival's highest prize, Tree of Life got a mixed reception from moviegoers at Cannes, receiving both boos and applause from the aisles, according to the Los Angeles Times.
