The last time we saw Athens, Georgiaย’s We Versus the Shark in Houston, the group seemed headed into a more instrumental territory. But luckily, the members didnย’t rush into anything, because their latest collection of experimental, hardcore rock is the most interest-ing yet. With complex instrumentation backing multiple screaming, singing and speaking vocals, WVTS easily draws comparisons to Fu-gazi, At the Drive In or Pretty Girls Make Graves. It sounds like too much at once, but the foursome has mastered the formula. Those skeptical of their ability to pull it off onstage should prepare to have their doubts demolished today when WVTS plays after You, Me and Everyone You Know, All Parallels, Biclops, Knifeworld, Meredith Bragg and the Terminals, Mossyrock, Justice Yeldhelm, The LK and Pash Band. 6 p.m. Super Happy Fun Land, 3801 Polk.
