Upcoming Houston Food Events: A Special Sweet Treat at iPic

Mark your calendars, because you don’t want to miss these fun culinary events:

During the month of June, iPic Theaters nationwide — including the Houston location at 4444 Westheimer— will feature Fluff Bake Bar chef Rebecca Masson’s "Unicorn Party" dessert. It's a spin on Masson's famous vanilla confetti cupcake that includes raspberry sorbet, whipped cream, rainbow sprinkles and a pirouette cookie. Additionally, iPic’s Master Sommelier, Adam Seger, is debuting a cocktail called Bourbon Tango Foxtrot, with bourbon, aperol, lemon-strawberry shrub and fragrant basil.

Sal y Pimienta, 818 Town & Country, has debuted a summer-time Monday-only special offer, where guests can enjoy a three-course prix fixe menu for two and a bottle of wine for $99. The menu showcases their succulent, 100-percent grassfed Uruguayan beef grilled over a live mesquite wood fire grill. The deal is available every Monday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. until August 1. For more information and reservations, call 832-849-0097 or visit salypimientakitchen.com.

Neighborhood hangout Queen Vic Pub & Kitchen, 2712 Richmond, which is known for its British and Indian fusion bites and interesting selection of craft beer, is now offering a weekly celebration of beer with “Tasting Tuesdays.” Guests can stop by every Tuesday to get $5 beer flights featuring four different four-ounce pours all day long.

Save the date! Underbelly, 1100 Westheimer, had so much fun at last year's rosé dinner, it's bringing the event back for round two. The 2nd Annual Respect the Rosé dinner will be held on Sunday, July 10, with tickets going on sale at noon this Monday, June 6. The multi-course, collaborative meal will be a celebration of friendship, Southern cuisine and, of course, plenty of delicious rosé, with two-time James Beard Award-winning chef Ryan Prewitt and celebrated chefs Michael Hudman and Andy Ticer sharing the love.

On Wednesday, June 8 at 7 p.m., down-home Southern restaurant Lucille’s, 5512 La Branch, is going Italian (with some Southern flair, of course) with a special wine dinner. Italian wines will be provided by local distributor Vino Vero, while the mouthwatering courses include whole smelt with pistachio pesto and smoked paprika oil; braised oxtail lasagna; and lamb neck with truffled polenta and Madeira and lamb jus. For more information and reservations, call 713-568-2505.

Updated, 6/6/16, 4:59 p.m.: Event organizers have cancelled the event below due to the unpredictable weather, with hopes to reschedule at a later date. The email we received says ticket holders should receive refunds no later than Friday, June 10. For questions, contact 877-429-8614 or [email protected]. The Metropolitan Houston chapter of 100 Black Men presents "100 Men Who Cook!" on Saturday, June 11 from 3 to 7 p.m. The event invites fathers to team up with their son or daughter to cook their favorite dish. Other fun family activities include a cooking demo, face painting, a balloon artist, a moonwalk and a DJ. Tickets for attendees are $10 each, which includes samples of all the available dishes. Proceeds will benefit the 100 Black Men of Metropolitan Houston's Scholarship Fund. Teams can register at 100blackmenhou.org.

Enjoy a Villa Maria Wine-Pairing Dinner at Ouisie’s Table, 3939 San Felipe, on Wednesday, June 15 at 6:30 p.m. Winemaker Gordon Russell of Esk Valley Estate will be on hand to introduce and discuss several of the wines from the Villa Maria winery during the six-course wine pairing dinner. The cost is $75 per person, plus tax and gratuity. For reservations and information,  call 713-528-2264.
