The Best Def Leppard Demos, Rarities, And Deep Tracks

Def Leppard is one of the quintessential rock bands of the '80s. With such hits as "Foolin'," "Hysteria," and the ever-popular "Pour Some Sugar On Me" and countless others.

Despite the numerous tragedies that have befallen the band, including the death of guitarist Steve Clark and a car wreck that took the arm of drummer Rick Allen --who still drums for them today -- the band has kept it going for over 35 years.

The band will be coming to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion this Saturday at 7 pm along with Lita Ford and Poison on the "Rock Of Ages" tour.

Here are some of the best demos, rare songs, and deep tracks the band has done over the past years.

10. "Pour Some Sugar On Me" (Demo) Though the famous guitar opening is still intact, the lyrics and other defining aspects of this classic took some time to evolve.

9. "Let It Go" One of the coolest things about this track is that it sounds exactly like some of their peers - more specifically AC/DC. In fact, many of the band's albums starting with 1981's High 'n' Dry were produced by AC/DC's famed producer and ex-Mr. Shania Twain, Robert "Mutt" Lang.

8. "Gravity" In the '90s, Def Leppard abandoned their signature sound and tried to adapt to the changing musical climate, which consisted mainly of pop artists like Britney Spears, Moby, and more. In hindsight, this is not bad, because it still carries the overall sound of the band, but with a more slick production.

7. "Perfect Girl" (Gravity demo) This demo sounds like the band was listening to way too much Savage Garden while making this song.

6. "Getcha Rocks Off" (Original EP Version) Though this was rerecorded for their full-length debut, On Through the Night, this is still a good track. The band seems to take a more punk approach akin to the Ramones or early Pretenders. The band took a very attitude-driven approach to the record in the form of its artwork, and the artwork parodies the "His Masters Voice" painting with a leopard in place of the dog.

5. "Rock Brigade" If "Rock Brigade" was meant to give the world a great introduction to Def Leppard, it worked. One thing to listen for is late guitarist Steve Clark's sweetly searing guitar solo. 4. "Ride Into the Sun" (Original EP Version) This early version of "Ride Into the Sun" sounds a lot like some of the '70s AOR staples -- more specifically the Steve Miller Band.

3. "Stand Up (Kick Love Into Motion)" (Demo) "Stand Up (Kick Love Into Motion)" is the rare case where the demo actually sounds better than the final version. It features yet another great guitar solo from late guitarist Steve Clark. Clark died of an overdose before their 1992 album, Adrenalize, was released. He wrote the song and was on this demo, he was not featured on the final version.

2. "Tonight" (Demo) Ever wondered what Def Lep would sound like if they tried to re-imagine their own version of "Stairway To Heaven?" Quite possibly this is what it would sound like. Though this demo is a bit more mellow and longer than its final recording counterpart, it's still pretty good.

1. "When Love and Hate Collide "(Demo) This version is far superior than the final studio recording. Though this demo seems like it was recorded sometime around the Hysteria era.
