In front of a sold out crowd at the new Constellation Field, the inaugural Opening Day game for the Sugar Land Skeeters took place last night, Thursday โ€“ April 26th, 2012. The area’s new minor league team attracted baseball fans including Sugar Land mayor James Thompson, Grammy-Award winner Yolanda Adams, and an American Bald eagle named Challenger. After giving up the early lead to the two-time defending Atlantic League champs York Revolution, the home team tied it up in the seventh inning, but eventually lost the game 3-2.
