A wise old T-shirt once said, “Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad.” Obscure film archivists the A/V Geeks are proving that this weekend at the Aurora Picture Show with “Daddy’s Day,” a series of filmstrips showing the trials and tribulations of Dear Old Dad. Schoolboy Father features an all-star cast (by 1987 standards): Rob Lowe is the father and Dana Plato is the mother. “It has all the trappings of a great after school special, the drama and the transgressions of having a kid when you’re still in high school,” says Skip Elsheimer, curator of the show and owner of more than 19,000 filmstrips. —Dusti Rhodes
