Here’s a look at this weekend’s tasty food and drink happenings:
Houston Restaurant Weeks
All weekend long
Houston Restaurant Weeks, the Houston Food Bank’s epic annual fundraiser, officially kicks off this Friday and runs through Labor Day, Monday, September 1. During the month-long dining extravaganza, participating restaurants across the city offer multi-course meals for brunch and lunch ($25) or dinner ($39 or $55), with $1 to $5 from each going to support the fight against hunger. This year’s lineup features exciting newcomers like Barbacana and Okto, alongside returning favorites including Pondicheri and Rainbow Lodge. Now’s the time to plan your meals and secure your reservations.
Sawyer Yards Summer Brewery Crawl
Saturday, noon to 7 p.m.
City Orchard, Holler Brewing, Platypus Brewing and Tejas Beer are throwing a self-guided brewery crawl through Saywer Yards. Hit all four stops and buy a drink at each to score a commemorative pint glass. There’s no cover to join the fun, just pay as you sip and crawl at your own pace.
White Linen Night in the Heights
Saturday, 6 to 10 p.m.
19th Street (Yale to Ashland)
Heights summertime tradition White Linen Night is back, with the official party going down on 19th Street from 6 to 10 p.m. Inspired by the French Quarter fest of the same name, the evening invites guests to dress in white and stroll through streets filled with live music, local bites and bevs, street performers and a lineup of artisan vendors. Tickets are $10 online or $20 at the door, with proceeds supporting neighborhood initiatives. Kids 12 and under get in free, and coolers and pets are welcome. Outside of 19th, parties are popping up all around the Heights, from the White Oak bar hop to WLN bashes at Heights Bier Garten and Heights & Co.
