Softy Supergroup

Jazz students, marching band survivors and your great aunt all have something in common, and that's knowledge of Blood, Sweat & Tears. Despite a revolving door of members and a plunge in album sales in the early '70s, the pioneering jazz-rock band's best-known hits remain staples of high school music programs and senior-aimed radio stations. To the very quiet delight of soft rock enthusiasts, Chuck Negron of Three Dog Night has recently taken on lead-singer duties for the band, which still retains a few members of its early incarnations. Let's all whisper, "Hooray!" The group is playing today at the Stafford Centre. We certainly hope to hear the often-misheard tune about the kid who "lost a glove" ("You've Made Me So Very Happy") and maybe the band will fire up the bagpipes for a medley of "Go Down Gamblin'/Spinning Wheel." Tell Aunt Millie to save a dance.
