Author Salman Rushdie is known for a very bad thing that happened to him (a certain fatwa) and a number of very good things that have happened to him (The Man Booker Prize, knighthood, Padma Lakshmi). In fact, his personal life is so scandalous and intriguing that his books have sometimes been forgotten in the blaze of his celebrity.
