Levy Park Conservancy hosted a food lover’s paradise on August 12 with the Southern Fried Chicken Festival. Houston-area chefs and culinary artists offered up tasty bites while guests weighed in on their picks for the people’s choice award. We saw a chicken wing eating contest and a watermelon seed spitting competition, and enjoyed live music by Blaze and Black, Sambabom Houston and Ganesha.

Participating contestants and vendors included Bryan Soliz (Chef “Chops”), The Waffle Bus, The Bird Food Truck, Pat’s Wings on Wheels, Krisp Bird & Batter, Mi Patio Cafe & Grill, Stellar Sandwiches, Thrilla and Vanilla, Planet Churro and Honey’s desserts. All photos by Doogie Roux.
