The Tontons Are Deemed Buzzworthy By MTV, Playing PopMontreal

Just this morning, MTV's Buzzworthy site decided to show the world the Tontons and their track "Golden", which was easily one of the best things about 2011. Bun B and myself decided it one night at a food truck.

That's how things happen in Houston.

Great, now these guys and girl will never play Houston ever again. I bet lead singer Asli Omar and the boys already forgot the names of their favorite bartenders in Montrose. What's that? They are also playing PopMontreal at the end of September? Plus New York City's CMJ Music Marathon according to the MTV blog.

The band just wrapped production on a clip for "Golden" and have been taking sabbaticals around Texas to write songs for their third album.

The MTV blog gushed about "Golden" saying:

The rhythmic, guitar-driven track sounds like a younger, college-aged Metric, and much like Emily Haines (Metric's lead singer), Omar carries an empowering, emotional lead vocal.

You can see the band this weekend on Saturday night at Warehouse Live with Featherface and Quiet Company, plus a boatload of others. This show along with the Grandfather Child record release the night before at Fitzgerald's should help round out a stellar local music weekend.

D'Angelo is playing at the Toyota Center on Sunday night with some chick named Mary J. Blige too.
