Unidentified Male, Bayou Body Count No. 228
A man was killed during a home invasion on the southwest side shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday, Houston police said.
The unnamed shooting victim and another man had pried open the door to an apartment in the 7600 block of Moonmist Drive and pushed aside a loveseat that had been blocking the entrance from the inside.
"Once inside, one suspect pointed a pistol at the victims," HPD said. "One of the victims [of the break-in], fearing for his and his family's safety, shot one of the suspects in the chest. Both suspects fled the apartment. The wounded suspect feel about 25 yards from the apartment and was pronounced dead at the scene."
The other man got away and was described only as "a Hispanic male."
Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS
